  1. What is the CERT.br?

    CERT.br -- Computer Emergency Response Team Brazil -- is a CSIRT sponsored by the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee, and responsible for receiving, reviewing, and responding to computer security incident reports and activity related to networks connected to the Brazilian Internet.

  2. What is the relationship between CERT.br and NBSO/Brazilian CERT?

    CERT.br is the new name given to NBSO, in order to better reflect the team's mission and services to all Internet connected networks in Brazil.

    The team still has the same staff and is providing the same services, with no other modification besides its name.


  3. What are the CERT.br services?

    Besides doing Incident Handling activities, CERT.br also works to increase security awareness in our community and to help new CSIRTs to establish their activities.

    Our range of services include:

    Provide a focal point for reporting computer security incidents that provides coordinated support in response (and indication to others) to such reports;

    Establish collaborative relationships with other entities such as law enforcement, service providers and telephone companies.

    Support tracing intruder activity;

    Provide trainning in Incident Response, specially for CSIRT staff and for institutions starting the creation of a CSIRT.

  5. To whom should I report computer security incidents in Brazil?

    We encourage you to send the report directly to the network or domain contact, and to keep CERT.br (cert@cert.br) on the message's "Cc:".

    You can find network and domain contacts at the Brazilian Whois database, available at the Whois server: whois.nic.br.

    You can also check if the network have a CSIRT looking at the list of Brazilian CSIRTs Contact Information.


  6. What information should I include in the report?

    Please, include the following information in the report:

    • complete logs;
    • the logs' date, time and timezone;
    • any additional information you have available to help to identify and correlate the activity.
